Hello Grief
Privacy Policy
Hello Grief is operated by Rebekah (Bek) Beechey (ABN 60 122 044 646) ("Hello Grief", "we", "us"). We respect your privacy and understand that information connected with grief can be deeply personal. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and how you can contact us about it.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, to the extent they apply to us.
1. Information we collect
We collect only the information we reasonably need to provide and administer the Hello Grief program:
- Purchase details – your name, email address and billing details. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card details.
- Account details – your email address and an encrypted (hashed) password so you can log in to the program.
- Signed Terms of Use – when you accept our Terms of Use you provide your full name, email address and an electronic signature. We also record the date and time you signed, your IP address and basic browser information, so that we have a reliable record of your agreement.
- Communications – information you choose to share when you email us.
2. Your reflections stay on your device
The journal entries, checklists, feelings, important dates and other reflections you record inside the program are saved only in your own web browser on your device. They are not sent to us or stored on our servers, and we cannot see them. If you clear your browser data or use a different device, those entries will not be available.
3. How we use your information
- to process your purchase and provide your access to the program;
- to send your login details and important information about your account or the program;
- to send occasional gentle check-in emails connected with your program (you can ask us to stop these at any time);
- to keep a record of your acceptance of our Terms of Use;
- to respond to your questions and provide support;
- to keep the program secure and fix technical problems; and
- to meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We will only send you marketing communications where you have agreed to receive them or where the law otherwise permits, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
4. Sensitive information
You do not need to tell us about your grief, health or personal circumstances to use the program. If you choose to share sensitive information with us (for example, by email), we will only use it for the purpose you shared it for, such as responding to you, and will handle it with particular care.
5. Who we share information with
We use trusted service providers to run the program. They only receive the information they need to provide their service to us:
- Stripe – payment processing;
- Resend – sending emails such as your login details and signed agreement records;
- Railway – hosting the Hello Grief website and program;
- Vimeo – hosting the program videos; and
- Google Fonts – providing the fonts used on our website.
Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers with appropriate privacy and security practices. We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law.
6. Cookies
We use a single essential cookie to keep you logged in to the program. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
7. How we protect and keep your information
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including secure (HTTPS) connections and encrypted passwords. We keep purchase records and signed agreements for as long as needed to provide the program and to meet our legal and record-keeping obligations, and then securely delete them.
8. Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing bek@hellogrief.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time.
9. Questions and complaints
If you have a question or concern about your privacy, please contact Bek at bek@hellogrief.com.au. We will do our best to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page.
